Mortgage agent aims to empower clients through education

-

Name: Brandon Woodward Age: 32 Position: Mortgage agent Job description: Purchasing a home is one of the biggest investments someone will make in their life. I empower my clients throughout the mortgage process by educating them on home ownership as well as the fundamentals of finance in order to help them reach their goals.

How did you come to be in this job? After five-plus years working for a major financial institution, I wanted more flexibility in my life as well as the opportunity to build a brand of my own.

What gets you up in the morning? I love that I play an integral role in helping my clients achieve their dreams. Whether it be their first home purchase, purchasing that dream vacation property, or their first investment property. I love the excitement surrounding these meetings in my clients.

Lessons learned? There is no shortcut to success. Hard work, dedication and always doing what’s best for your clients is the only way to build a lifelong business that you can be proud of.

Roots: I was born and raised in Hamilton, then left to attend Brock University from the ages of 19 to 23. I then moved to Whistler, B.C., at the age of 24 and returned to Hamilton a year later where I have resided since.

Most recent social media post(s): Instagram: A shot of the bay from the Hamilton Harbour Queen. We recently had our annual partner appreciation event, which hosted approximately 150 of Hamilton Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs!

Groups and associations: Mortgage Professionals Canada, Hamilton Running Club, The Hamilton Club

Favourite place in the downtown: The West Town. It is close to home and has a very comforting atmosphere, great food all day long, with great staff to bring it to you!

What would make Hamilton a better city? Hamilton offers tremendous opportunities for young entrepreneurs, as the past several years have shown. It would be great if our municipal government could work alongside these individuals and organizations to make this process seamless and more accessible to new businesses.

What’s next for you? Expansion! We have quickly outgrown our space at 410 John St. S. and are looking for a larger space in the downtown core that is consistent with our brand. We want to create an environment that our clients get excited about visiting!
