I won’t be renewing my Ticat tickets

- RE: Ticat coaching controversy

I have been a Ticat season ticket holder for almost three decades. I have endured, along with thousands of other Ticat fans, the seasons when the team record was three and 15. It is very possible that this season the Ticats could end up with zero wins. We also endured the fiasco regarding the new stadium and travelled to Guelph for the home games. Scott Radley put it in perspective and said it best “Nobody’s life is ruined. Nobody’s dignity is violated.”

The announcement that the Ticats hired Art Briles shocked me. The administration at Baylor found that Briles was responsible for a culture that covered up sexual assaults. Scott Mitchell, Kent Austin and June Jones were aware of this and after several weeks of discussion were prepared to bring Briles on board. They collectively thought that we would tolerate this disturbing decision. It was only when fans expressed outrage and the CFL intervened did the Ticats rescind the offer to Briles. Not good enough.

I will not be renewing my seasons tickets until after Scott Mitchell, Kent Austin and June Jones have left the team. I ask Bob Young to do the right thing and ask for the collective resignation of Messrs. Mitchell, Austin and Jones. Forget about the points on the scoreboard, Ticat fans deserve a better team in the front office. Alisdair Miller, Mount Hope
