Gerrie ‘Salebration’ Show

Connecting electrical contractors, engineers, maintenance and procurement with leading experts in electrical, automation and lighting technology.

Gerrie Electric Wholesale has been passionately helping customers be more successful for sixty years. There have been a lot of changes since the business began in Oakville, Ontario. Since then, it has expanded to 24 locations approximately 400 employees serving 8000 customers. Perhaps even more incredible has been the pace in which technology has changed from television and pop-up toasters to home automation and the internet of things.

As one of the largest independent electrical distributors in Canada, Gerrie has built a reputation for equipping its customers with the latest technology in products, expert knowledge and training. This year, Gerrie invites contractors and customers to celebrate its past while connecting to the future at its ‘Salebration’ this fall.

There are two shows planned. The first show takes place at Bingemans in Kitchener on Wed., Sept. 20. The second show takes place at the Oakville Conference Centre on Wed., Oct. 4. Both shows begin at 1 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. Attendees will experience an extensive exhibitor show floor, free training workshops, hands-on learning as well as unique opportunities to meet face-to-face with the innovative companies that bring the latest technology to market. Electrical contractors, industrial manufacturing plant engineering, maintenance and procurement staff, property managers and institutions, and OEMs are welcome to attend one or both events.

The show floor will feature more than 40 vendors including: Acuity, Cisco, Ledvance, Hubbell, Rockwell Automation and Leviton. Each exhibitor will be equipped with a manufacturer rep to answer questions on latest products and trends. Attendees can expect to learn about a wide range of technologies from fuses to automation, distribution equipment and lighting. Additionally, attendees can take advantage of spectacular one-day specials. As a special bonus, all qualifying purchases will earn Gerrie bucks which can be redeemed for merchandise like electronics and gift cards.

“A big focus is the tremendous special pricing that will be offered at the show for one day only,” explains Gerrie co-owner, Heather Gerrie.

With energy conservation growing in importance among all businesses, the show will have a number of local hydro exhibitors as well as ESA in attendance to share their expertise and provide information on incentives. Gerrie will have its own table in this dedicated section to supply guidance on how to process rebates and to discuss its no-charge audit service.

“As hydro costs continue to rise, this is increasingly important,” says Gerrie. “The local hydros at the show will help contractors or industry find out what’s new in energy incentives and management.”

Free training seminars will focus on a variety of hot-button topics including: code changes, lighting basics through to newest technology and control, workplace safety, industrial automation, home automation, as well as an informative session by Cisco titled, What is IoT (internet of things). A full listing of all seminars offered can be found at www.gerrie. com/gerrie60.

“As part of the show floor, we are excited that attendees will have the opportunity to talk to local Ontario colleges. Invitations have been extended to Mohawk, Niagara, Humber, Conestoga and Fanshawe. Each college will have representatives on hand to discuss the latest programs in electrical engineering technology and electrical apprenticeships. Businesses may also be interested in learning about custom training programs that can be developed by each college to address industry or company-specific needs. Furthermore, companies that face a shortage in skilled labour will have the chance to network with colleges and students for recruitment purposes” says Elaine Gerrie, Gerrie coowner

Outside the venue, there will be a number of trailers hailing from across North America that are housed with the industry’s latest products. These dedicated trailers, travel across the continent to showcase products to customers and end-users and offer a rare hands-on opportunity to try the industry’s most innovative technology.

One such trailer worth visiting will be Gerrie’s own trailer that is typically set up on-site at major construction projects. The trailer, when on a site, acts as a mobile branch of the company, offering a more seamless approach to inventory management throughout the multiple phases of a project.

The “Salebration” show presented by Gerrie offers a full spectrum of opportunities to learn through informative training sessions, hands-on exhibits and discussions with experts in the field. Entrance to the show and all training sessions are free of charge, however Gerrie recommends registering in advance to ensure a spot in your preferred sessions.

The show will be selling raffle tickets for amazing prizes. All funds raised will be donated to Diabetes Canada and Alzheimer’s Society Canada – charities that Gerrie supports. The goal is to raise $60,000 over the course of this celebration year.
