Trust will seek proposals for 57 Discovery

The Hamilton Waterfront Trust will issue a request for proposals next month for the former Discovery Centre.

The trust’s board received an update Tuesday from executive director Werner Plessl during an incamera session on future plans for the Hamilton Waterfront Trust Centre at 57 Discovery Dr.

Afterward, board chair Bob Charters said the RFP will go out mid-October.

Future plans for the city-owned building may include one or more operators, he added.

Harbourfront eatery Sarcoa began occupying space in the building on Pier 8 in 2012 until the trust terminated their 20-year sublease in July.

The federal government handed over the Discovery Centre to the city in 2015.
