Youthcrawl on the First Week of School

- BY ALEXANDER AVERY, GRADE 7, MEMORIAL (CITY)

All grade 7s and 8s of Memorial City School went on a school trip to Youthcrawl during the first week of school. We went on a city bus that was very packed. We were all squished!

We looked at art around James Street. First, we went to a place that was built in the early 1850s. That makes it older than Canada, WOW! We went in a room with like 60 or so photographs of Mexicans who had come to Canada to get work. We were looking at those photographs for a while, then me and my classmate Ayman (who is also new to Canada from Syria) went and looked at a bunch of old phones, gears and cool stuff like that.

Following our visit to the museum, our class went to a place that had 360 VR goggles. In the goggles was a man looking for a girl. It was like a story in VR goggles. It was very cool.

Then we went to a place called Centre [3] where we pictures being prointed on shirts. That’s when something really cool happened! The guy who was showing us what he does for a living called me to the front of the room. He called me up to put one of the pictures he made on a piece of paper. It was awesome!

Then we visited a bunch of art galleries. Like a place where we made mini cities out of cardboard.

After that we ate lunch on the roof of Jackson Square where we were very noisy. It was a fun trip and a good way to end the first week of school!
