DEEPS

Deeps is the stage name for Hamilton singer-songwriter Steve De Piante who blends roots, folk and country into his music. He’s releasing a new EP “Headed Back That Way” on Thursday, Oct. 5, at This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. N., before heading out on a month-long cross-Canada tour. Opening for him is Matty Simpson and Blind Mule. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. $10 admission.

CAROLYN MARK

Carolyn Mark is a veteran B.C. singer-songwriter who knows how to entertain audiences with wry stage patter as well as her original songs. Mark brings the band Her New Best Friends to The Casbah (Queen at King West) on Thursday, Oct. 5, with special guest Juno-winning alt-country singer Jenny Whiteley. Mark is also author of “How to be a Boozy Chaunteuse.” Doors open at 8 p.m. $15.

MOONLIGHT DESIRES

Moonlight Desires is a Hamilton band, led by Trevor Ziebarth, that rose from the ashes of Teletoon metal band “Sons of Butcher.” Moonlight Desires takes delight in turning synth-laden pop hits from the ’80s and turning them into heavy metal monsters. They’re releasing a cassette full of covers on Friday, Oct. 6, at The Casbah (Queen at King West). Doors open at 9 p.m. $5 admission.

WEAVES

Weaves is a Toronto-based four-piece alt-rock outfit that is taking Canada by storm. Led by dynamic vocalist Jasmyn Burke, the band’s self-titled debut album made the shortlist for this year’s Polaris Prize for top Canadian album. The group is now releasing its second LP “Wide Open.” Hear the new songs Sunday, Oct. 8, at Mills Hardware, 95 King St. E. Show starts at 8 p.m. $12.

TONY MONACO

Mentored by the legendary Jimmy Smith, Tony Monaco is a master of the Hammond B-3 organ.
