171

The number of OHL alumni listed on NHL opening night rosters, or 24 per cent of all players. That includes a dozen who suited up in the league last season — Mikhail Sergachev, Jeremiah Addison, Logan Brown, Alex Formenton, Janne Kuokkanen, Victor Mete, Owen Tippett, Michael McLeod, Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome, Jonne Tammela and Luke Opilka.

8,855,000

The combined amount, in U.S. dollars, they stand to make in base salary alone if they stick in the NHL this season.

29

The number of former London Knights on NHL opening night rosters, which is the most by a long shot of any team in the OHL. Sault Ste. Marie is next with 14.

3

The number of OHL teams that start the weekend without a regulation loss — North Bay, Owen Sound and Flint. Of the three, only the Firebirds were undefeated going into Thursday’s game against Peterborough.

2

The number that had yet to win after Week 2. Mississauga was 0-4 to start the weekend, while Sudbury had three regulation losses and a pair in overtime. They face each other Friday, which means at least one of them will soon have a win under their belts.

7

The number of goals rookie forward Nick Wong has scored in five games for the Oshawa Generals. That’s the most in the league and a heck of a lot for an OHL second rounder who just turned 16 the week before the season kicked off. As of Thursday, he also had the most power play markers in the loop with four.

48

The number of OHL players listed on Central Scouting’s Players to Watch list for the 2018 NHL Draft, including one from Hamilton. Bulldogs forward Connor Roberts earned a “C” rating, which denotes a fourth, fifth or sixth round selection.

50,000

The amount, in U.S. dollars, former Bulldogs forward Matt Luff will make playing for AHL’s Ontario Reign this season, a fraction of what he would make playing up with the team’s NHL parent L.A. Kings ($650,000 US). On the off chance he’s sent back to Hamilton for an overage season, he would make no more than $900 a month or roughly $715 US.

0

The Bulldogs’ power play percentage after four games, which ties them with Saginaw and Gatineau (a team that doesn’t even play in the OHL) at the bottom of the standings. They’re 0-for-16 going into the weekend and have given up a short-handed goal.

34

The number of goals given up by the Ottawa 67’s so far this season, or 5.67 per game — the most in the OHL. The team with the fewest is Windsor at 1.75 goals per game

followed by Hamilton at 2.25. 10 The number of games Oshawa defenceman Sean Allen will sit out after a head check in last weekend’s tilt with Peterborough. Altogether, the OHL has suspended six players a total of 29 games since the season started two weeks ago. That includes Barrie forward Ben Hawerchuk, who will miss eight games for a head check on Hamilton defenceman Jack Hanley.
