Software startup offers a new way to remember life’s greatest moments
Couple create social media product ‘Journey Lane’
Life is all about memorable experiences.
In the past, scrapbooks and photo albums proved popular methods of preserving memories. Today, memories live on a hard drive, computer or camera with little context or organization.
After 15 years of baseball games, scout meets, vacations and outings with their kids, Jeff and Lisa Brown realized they had little to show for these experiences. Their bank of digital photos was rarely looked at and when it was, it gave little in terms of context. They wanted to create something that would allow them to plan experiences and make memorable moments more accessible.
After establishing their company, Sojoorn Media, Jeff and Lisa Brown launched Journey Lane: an event and travel organizer for groups and individuals. This all-in-one platform and app helps users manage, share and remember the best of life’s experiences. Users create experiences built around a moment in time – like an event, vacation or activity – and manage each aspect of it through the platform, from start to finish.
“We wanted to create solutions that enhance users’ lives,” says Lisa Brown.
The platform serves as a group organizer, travel planner, instant messenger, photo organizer, calendar and private social media application. “The key for us is offering a solution that provides these organizational features but does so for all types of groups.”
Lisa Brown explains that it is important to focus on the unique needs of their users: “At this stage, it isn’t just about the volume of users, but more the impact we have on each one of them. Our users are driving the direction of the platform.”
As they grow their user base, the team plans to optimize existing features and add applications. For the Browns, it is important their growth benefit the city they live in.
