Chrysanthemums
The Mum Show in Hamilton’s Gage Park Greenhouse continues daily until Sunday. The 97th annual show, Under the Big Top, celebrates the circus. Take a stroll through the more than 200 varieties of chrysanthemums and more than 75,000 blooms between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gage Park Greenhouse. Tickets are $6.75; $5.75 for seniors and kids; five years and under free.
Saturday is Solutions Saturday. Workshops and speakers every hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All included as part of general admission.
Woodturners
Salad bowls, pepper mills and rolling pins are just some of what the Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild will have on hand at its fourth Woodturning Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday. Doors are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Dundas Lions Memorial hall, 10 Market St., Dundas.
Zombie walk
The horde returns. The Hamilton Zombie Walk starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Gore Park in downtown Hamilton. Walkers are asked to meet in the park starting at noon. Need help with your makeup to get that perfect un-dead look? Meet at the central branch of the Hamilton Public Library from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Zombification Station. Don’t forget a non-perishable food item for donation.
Nightmare on Elmore
Tread lightly down to Gage Park where Nightmare on Elmore presents Hammertown Horror Fest. Walk into the displays and be prepared to scream. The fest is open daily until Halloween night. The fright is kid friendly from 5 to 7 p.m., and then becomes bone chilling from 7 to 11. Wheelchair accessible.
More Halloween happenings
Fright in the Forest at Dundas Valley Conservation Area, 650 Governor’s Rd., Dundas on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. Walk the jack-o-lantern trail, learn What’s Alive in the forest, take the Night Quest hike, roast marshmallows and visit the Trail Centre for treats and snacks. The evening is complete with a screening of Ghostbusters under the stars. Don’t forget to wear costumes and bring lots of blankets. Admission is $15 per car.
Fallfest on Concession Street features live music, vendor marketplace, trick or treating for the kids and a pumpkin-carving contest on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free parking from Upper Wentworth to Upper Sherman.
It’s a Scarecrow invasion on King Street in Dundas Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The BIA merchants welcome you to horse and trolley rides, a costume parade and more.
Kids Halloween Party at Erland Lee Museum, 552 Ridge Rd., Stoney Creek is Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. If you’re four to nine years old, you’re invited to a costume party at the museum. Admission is $5 per child. Call 905-662-2691.
Candlelight Spirit Walk, an after-hours tour of the Erland Lee Museum and grounds is Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 and must be reserved in advance. 906-662-2691.
Hamilton Naked Pumpkin Run is Saturday at 7 p.m. Wear only shoes and a mask or carved pumpkin (clothing is optional) for this 2.5 kilometre fun run. Meet on Longwood Road between Marion and King.
Westfield Heritage Village and the surrounding forest are set for fairy tales this Saturday and Sunday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Halloween celebration includes a Pumpkin Walk, sparkling Illuminated Forest and unique Fairy Village. The Halton County Radial Railway’s Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday involves a haunted car barn, creaky streetcars and apple cider. Halloween fans are encouraged to come dressed in costume. The event is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with the last car departing at 9:20 p.m. Admission is $15. The Halton County Radial Railway is at 13629 Guelph Line, Milton.
Bizarro’s Factory of Fear Haunted Attraction is Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. Admission is $15 for the factory at Mizener’s Antiques and Flea Market, 367 Highway 5 in Dundas.
Mountsberg Conservation Area’s Halloween Spooktacular runs weekends throughout October. Crafts, Pumpkin Passport to Discovery, wagon ride and face-painting. Free with park admission. Wear a costume when you visit.
Trick or treat: On Saturday, families can trick or treat along Ottawa Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
