Police charge man they allege robbed 6 stores in 9 days

Hamilton police say they’ve captured a “serial robber” who they’ve charged in connection with six robberies over nine days last month.

The first robbery happened Oct. 20 when a man entered Fennell Variety at 674 Fennell Ave., brandished a knife and stole an undisclose­d amount of cash.

The next day, Oct. 21, a man walked into Ginos Pizza at 65 Mall Rd. and ordered a slice of pizza.

He then allegedly brandished a knife and stole an undisclose­d amount of cash.

On Oct. 22, a man entered Webb’s Better Foods at 140 Caroline St. S., allegedly flashed a knife and demanded money.

He escaped with an undisclose­d amount of cash and cigarettes, po- lice said.

On Oct. 26, a man walked into Live Right Pet Supplies at 203 Main St. E., brandished a kitchen knife and told the employee he was robbing the store.

The suspect fled with an undisclose­d amount of cash.

On Oct. 28, a man entered Walkers Chocolates at 1050 King St. W., held up a broken shard of glass and told the employee he was rob- bing the store.

The suspect fled with an undisclose­d amount of cash.

The next day, Oct. 29, a man entered the Rainbow Gas Bar at 1368 Upper Gage Ave., allegedly brandished a broken shard of glass and demanded the cash. He fled empty-handed.

No one was injured during any of the robberies.

Douglas Adams, 38, of Hamil- ton is charged with six counts of robbery and five counts of being disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence.
