The Ancaster Minor Hockey League will honour Hamilton soldiers and veterans on Remembrance Day with two hockey games and seven hours of skills competitions.

Proceeds will be donated to the Argyll Regimental Foundation and the Thirteenth Regiment Foundation, as well as the Luke Zupan Hockey Scholarship for Big Brothers and Sisters of Hamilton/Burlington.

The day starts at Spring Valley Arena at 9 a.m. when house league players selected by their individual teams will take part in skills competitions until noon. From noon until 4 p.m. at Morgan Firestone Arena, rep players will have their turn.

At 4 p.m. at Morgan Firestone, the Montreal Canadiens Alumni touring team will take on a squad comprised of local soldiers and veterans and Ancaster Hockey alumni. Included on that team will be coaches of teams that raise $500 for the charities involved.

At 7 p.m. the Jr. B Ancaster Avalanche, the farm team of the Hamilton Bulldogs, will take on the St. Catharines Falcons in an upper-tier Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League game.

The full day also celebrates “50 Years of Hockey in Ancaster.”

One admission ticket (www.ancasterminorhockey.com) covers both hockey games, with reserved seating going for $25 and VIP seating at $50. Access to the Canadiens alumni meetand-greet costs an extra $25.
