Woman injured in Burlington condo fire
A Burlington woman is in stable condition after being rescued from an early-morning condo blaze Sunday that firefighters suspect was caused by a cigarette.
The Burlington Fire Department responded to the call at a three-storey Cleaver Avenue condominium building at 7:22. According to Acting Platoon Chief Steve Jones, the crew encountered heavy smoke upon arrival at the scene.
Firefighters rescued a female occupant before knocking down the fire, which was contained to the ground floor of one unit. Damage is estimated at more than $250,000.
