Hamilton is home to so many free and fun ways to enjoy the upcoming holiday season.

The City of Hamilton in partnership with the Canadian Pacific Railway, Hamilton Food Share, CHML/Y108/95.3 Fresh Radio, and the Downtown Hamilton BIA, are presenting several holiday events and invite you to be a part of them.

Hamiltonians can ring in the holiday season by welcoming the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train on Tues. Nov. 28 in Gage Park on Lawrence Road. The train is expected to arrive at 7:45 p.m. with a free concert featuring performances by Jim Cuddy, Devin Cuddy and Kelly Prescott. The CP Holiday Train, in partnership with Hamilton Food Share, asks the public to bring coins and healthy, non-perishable food donations such as tuna, beans, rice, pasta, cereal and baby food to the event. ArcelorMittal Dofasco volunteers will be onsite to help collect donations that will assist emergency food programs (food banks and hot meal lines) in Hamilton. In order to ensure public safety during the CP Holiday Train a section of Lawrence Road (from Kensington to Cumberland) will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. During this road closure, there will be no access to the Gage Park parking lot.

Holiday festivities in Gore Park kick off on Fri. Dec. 1, led by Y108 and special guests broadcasting live from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to bring greater awareness to the Christmas

Tree of Hope and the Operation Santa Claus Toy Drive.

Cash donations and unwrapped new toys for the CHML/Y108/95.3 Fresh Radio Children’s Fund can be dropped off on Dec. 1 between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Beginning at 5:00 p.m., the City of Hamilton, in partnership with the CHML/Y108/95.3 Fresh Radio and the Hamilton Downtown BIA, will light up Gore Park for the Holidays with the Christmas

Tree of Hope. Event goers will be treated to performances by the Rose

Garland band, free miniature train rides, Santa selfies, hot chocolate provided by the Salvation Army, an outdoor Christmas Market and a chance to place letters to Santa in a ‘direct to the North Pole’ mailbox, all in support of the Operation Santa Claus Toy Drive.

The Christmas Tree of Hope was donated by the Kaldenbach family of Ancaster.

The Downtown Hamilton BIA invites you to continue the holiday cheer on Sat. Dec. 2 and Sun. Dec. 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for The Christmas Market in Gore Park. Start your Christmas shopping with unique gift items displayed by local vendors. The fun continues with free miniature train rides daily in Gore Park from Dec. 1 to Dec. 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
