A 17-year-old has been arrested after a fight in Burlington during which three teens were stabbed.

Halton police were called to the area of Surrey Lane and Warwick Drive, near Plains Road East and King Road in Aldershot, around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a group of about a dozen teen boys fighting, said Det. Sgt. Ron Hansen.

When officers arrived the group had dispersed, however, police stopped a vehicle leaving the area and found a 17- and 18-year-old who had been stabbed. Both were transported by paramedics to Hamilton General Hospital for treatment of their injuries, believed to be serious, but not life-threatening.

A third victim — a 16-year-old male — was found at Joseph Brant Hospital where he had gone for treatment of a cut to his right arm.

Detectives believe the fight began as consensual, but escalated when one teen pulled out a knife, Hansen said.

A 17-year-old was arrested at a Burlington residence. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He is charged with aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of assault with a weapon and breaching an undertaking.
