A dignified death is a right under law
I watched my wife die an inhumane death (Jan. 3)
My condolences to Edward Collis. Watching a loved one die an unnecessarily slow death is inhumane. In 2016, Parliament passed a comprehensive bill to allow medical practitioners to help patients die with dignity. Based on the statements in Mr. Collis’ letter, the physicians and patient care management at this “super modern hospital” didn’t present them with this option. It appears from the letter that Mrs. Collis met the stringent requirements. How did the system let her and her family go through this agonizing seven days? What good was Parliament’s decision (one I wholly support) when something like this happens? How many other instances like this occur every day? Dennis Martin, Binbrook
