Government wants us to drop dead

RE: Where are my free prescription drugs? (Jan. 4)

Rusty Escott questions why the government is providing drugs to people just starting out in the workforce while older people have to pay for their own. The answer is twofold: One, the Liberals are trying to buy the youth vote. Two, politicians have stood back and allowed big business to slash wages while eliminating workplace pensions and benefits. Retired people who have worked and paid taxes for 40 to 50 years are now collecting money from government coffers. In short, they want us to drop dead and die. Pat Howse, Hamilton
