A joint news conference by York and Hamilton police homicide units Tuesday is expected to include an update on the investigation into Hamilton mobster Angelo Musitano’s murder.

Hamilton police homicide unit Det. Sgt. Peter Thom confirmed he will be in attendance at York Regional Police headquarters in Aurora at 11 a.m. He is case manager on the Musitano investigation.

The 39-year-old Musitano died after being shot in the driveway outside his 14 Chesapeake Dr. home in Waterdown on May 2, 2017.

The other murder police will be updating is the March 14, 2017, shooting death of Mila Barberi, from Vaughan. The 28-year-old and an unnamed 40-year-old, who suffered minor injuries, were shot in a parking lot on Caster Avenue, near Weston Road and Highway 7.

Police are looking “to identify suspects and vehicles involved in two incidents, which are believed to be linked,” York Regional Police said in the news release.

In the Barberi case, a Jeep Grand Cherokee allegedly used in the death was discovered March 16 in an industrial park near Rexdale.

Hamilton police have already released images and descriptions of the killer, his getaway car and other vehicles used in “stalking” Musitano the week before his murder.

That killer is described as a white male, with a stocky or athletic build, wearing a black tuque, black jacket, grey pants and black shoes. Police found the stolen burgundy Ford Fusion he is believed to have used abandoned in Waterdown five days after the murder.

A week-and-a-half ago, Hamilton police announced they were looking for other vehicles seen near the home or with the killer in the week before the murder — a 2006 to 2011 black, two-door Honda Civic; a 2017 red Chevrolet Malibu; and a grey or blue Infiniti sedan.
