Truck stolen from public works yard

HAGERSVILL­E — Two Six Nations women are facing charges after allegedly stealing a Brant County vehicle.

On Feb. 8 at 6 a.m., the Brant County OPP were called to Pleasant Ridge Road after a Brant County Roads Department employee reported a 2017 pickup had just been stolen from the public works yard.

Just after 7:30 a.m., Haldimand County OPP responded to Main Street in Hagersvill­e after a witness said a roads department vehicle was driving recklessly. Just before 8:45 a.m. the truck went into a ditch and two women went to a business for help. They were arrested shortly after.

A woman, 25, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The other woman, 31, was charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of break-in tools and driving while suspended.
