Stone Church Sobeys grand opening Thursday

The Stone Church Sobeys is holding its grand opening on Feb. 15.

The 50,000-square-foot store will feature full-service deli and bakery departments, a sushi bar, self-serve hot meals, a salad bar and hundreds of organic and gluten-free products. The store is located at 1770 Stone Church Rd. E. in Stoney Creek. The grand opening, which is taking place at 7:45 a.m., will include a ribbon cutting and donation presentation to Food4Kids Hamilton.

Store operator Sherry Cockwell has more than 28 years of experience in the grocery business.

She started her Sobeys career in 1990 as a deli clerk at the Grimsby location and worked her way up.

For the last four years, Cockwell has been the store operator at Sobeys Glendale and Merritt in St. Catharines.
