Passed away on February 17, 2018 at the age of 84 from complicati­ons of pancreatic cancer. Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly “Joan” (nee Laidman); children Sherry (Herman) Zelle, Gloria (Kevin) Cruickshan­k, Tracey (Glen) Patterson, and Daryl (Jennifer) Baxter; Grandchild­ren Jenelle, Erik, Janessa, Aaron, Autumn, and Raya; sisters Ann (Allan), Adams, Ruth (Gerald) Bent, Alice Baxter, Clare (Johnny) Savoie, and brother George (Anne) Baxter; nieces and nephews Brenton, Brenda, Lynn, Stephen, Stewart, Kevin, Dawn, Jeanine, Kirk, Ian, David, Alicia, and Sarah He will also be sadly missed by many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Ray is preceded in death by sister Margaret (Himmie) Ballantyne. Ray worked as a truck driver for Dofasco for nearly 30 years and then moved onto American Waterworks where he drove tractor for another 20, retiring from there only this past November. He enjoyed antique farm machinery and was also actively involved in the Blackheath Lions Club and the Grand River Antique Show. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 11 a.m. at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL in Caledonia, ON. Reverend Cheryl Barker of St. Paul’s Anglican Church will be officiatin­g. Visitation­s will be held on Wednesday, February 21 from 7-9 p.m. and prior to the service on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Miller’s Funeral Chapel. Cremation is to follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice. The family of A. Raymond Baxter wishes to thank the nurses and caregivers from CCAC and Saint Elizabeth’s.
