RE: PREMIER DOUG FORD? (MARCH 12)

Bravo to The Spectator for providing a reasoned perspective on why Ontarians need to be concerned about the outcome of the (Progressive) Conservative leadership race.

It is more important than ever before for Ontarians to think hard about their core values and the kind of world they want to see. We are at a critical tipping point when it comes to our environment, and very soon a time will come when, if we haven’t acted to address climate change, the impact of it will begin to adversely affect our prosperity, not to mention our health and quality of life, which are already being affected.

The younger generation sees this, and I was encouraged to read about the inspiring work done by McMaster students to address climate change during McMaster’s Energy Week. I now call upon fellow voters to ask themselves this question: when your children and grandchildren ask you what you did about climate change, what will you say? Will you have to say that you supported a government that wanted to ignore climate change, or will you be able to say that you voted for a party committed to reducing carbon emissions? Will you look back with pride or shame on your part in the kind of future we are shaping for the next generations? Whatever your politics, I hope you will answer these questions honestly, and use them to guide you to the right choice, not just for today, but for all our tomorrows.
