MARKER STARLING

Marker Starling is the stage name Chris A. Cummings (a.k.a. Mantler), a Toronto songwriter best known as a solo act, performing his feel-good music with drum machine and Wurlitzer piano. On Friday, April 6, however, he is bringing a 10-piece band to This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. N., 9 p.m., with Sarah Good and Andrian Underhill. $12.

SEAN MCCANN

Best know as a founding member of Great Big Sea, Sean McCann is now charting his own course as a solo artist and mental health advocate — “music is medicine.” He’ll be performing songs from his latest album “There’s a Place,” Friday, April 6, 8 p.m. at the Pearl Company, 16 Steven St. $30 at the door.

GINGER ST. JAMES

Ginger St. James hosts her fifth annual “Bands for Boobs” fundraisin­g benefit for the Cancer Assistance Program on Sunday, April 8, 1 p.m. to closing, at the Casbah (306 King St. W.). Among the performers: Harrison Kennedy, Tim Gibbons, Alfie Smith, Fry Truck, Cadillac Bill, the Treble Men, Rocket and the Renegades, Matty Simpson, Shari Dunn. $20 advance or $25 at the door.

IRISH MYTHEN

Born in Ireland and now residing in Prince Edward Island, Irish Mythen sings her gritty brand of folk music with a voice sharp enough to penetrate your soul. She’s sold out a show at the Carnegie Centre in Dundas, but there’s still plenty of tickets available for her show Sunday, April 8, at Mills Hardware, 95 King St. E., with Robin Benedict, 8 p.m. $15 advance or $20 at the door.

SON OF DAVE

Son of Dave was with Crash Test Dummies for 10 years before moving to England and launching his one-man harmonica, beat-box, percussion and growly blues eccentrici­ty. He’ll perform songs from his album “Music For Cop Shows” Wednesday, April 11, at This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. N., with Dave Gould and Wax Mannequin. Doors open at 8 p.m. $10.
