Adventurous roots can take time to bloom

-

As we prepared this Spring issue of Most, we were constantly reminded that, despite what the calendar dictates, spring is not ready to take root. Our photo shoot in Ancaster took place during a snowstorm and last weekend’s treacherous ice storm had most people marooned in their homes. As much as we’ve become accustomed to controlling many facets of our lives, nature reminds that we can never control the weather. Spring will come when it’s darn well ready. And not a day before.

This fun issue about embracing your inner adventurer is a nice metaphor for winter’s stubbornness in letting go. Spring’s slow progression can be compared to our own resistance to taking risks and facing change. Let’s face it, no matter how much you think you’d like to jump out of the airplane or dive into that ocean, if your psyche is not ready to take the leap, you ain’t gonna do it. Does that automatically make you a coward? A failure? No way.

Just as sure as spring will arrive, you can be certain that the goals you set are achievable. They may take time and patience to reach, but you’ll get there eventually. In our feature article, Breathing Underwater, Janine Reed reminds us that a powerful intention can produce stunning personal achievement. She’s an inspiration to all of us who struggle to overcome deep fears and is a shining example of the rewards we reap when we move beyond our comfort zone.

Deep down, each of us wants to reach a little higher, dig a little deeper, push a little harder. We hope this issue inspires you to step beyond your limits toward an amazing goal that, as certain as spring, will come to be.
