We’re finally in for some sunshine. Here are a few outdoor and indoor events to help you through the “first weekend” of spring.
Plant Faire
Out comes the sun and happy gardeners! The Royal Botanical Gardens Plant Faire is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will include vendors featuring unique seeds and plants, RBG Royal Select plants, presentations, displays and children’s activities. This year’s event has been moved indoors to the RBG Centre, 680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington. Admission is free. Parking at the RBG Centre and at the Rock Garden.
Active Earth Day
Earth Day is Sunday and with it come community events and activities.
Celebrate with the Everyone Rides Initiative, SoBi Hamilton and Cycle Hamilton on a group ride around Princess Point and the harbour front. Meet us at SoBi Hamilton, 126 Catharine St. N., at 1 p.m. Saturday. Bikes will be available if you do not have one and everyone is welcome.
Tree planting at Churchill Park on Saturday, at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors, exhibits and more than 500 trees to plant.
Beautiful Alleys Spring Cleanup is Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Powell Park Community Clubhouse, 56 Birch Ave. Supplies are provided. Lunch follows in the clubhouse. Call 289-933-4810, or email hamiltonalleys@gmail.com.
Spring Cleanup Day at Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum, 64 Sulphur Springs Rd., Ancaster, is Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact the Ancaster Horticultural Society at 905-304-3708.
The Greensville Spring Clean Up is hosted by the Optimist Club, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Meet at the corner of Brock and Harvest roads behind Efcom. Free barbecue. Rain or shine, greensvilleoptimistclub.ca.
Earth Day Art Bus will take you to the Windermere Basin and Industrial Hamilton with special guest Lynda Lukasik, followed by a tour of Witness: Edward Burtynsky on view at the Art Gallery of Hamilton on Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Call 905-573-7425.
Earth Day Beach Cleanup is Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m. Meet at The Lakeview building, 180 Van Wagners Beach Rd. Gloves and bags provided.
Million Dollar Quartet
At Hamilton’s Theatre Aquarius, Dofasco Centre for the Arts, 190 King William St., is “Million Dollar Quartet.” It’s the hit rock ‘n’ roll musical inspired by the story of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis.
