Spring is here with sunshine and double-digit temperatures
It’s finally here. After what seemed like a never-ending winter, this weekend’s forecast is full of springlike weather for Hamilton.
“This finally looks like we’re breaking the back of winter, turning a corner, whatever euphemism or saying you want to have,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson.
Sunshine is expected right through Tuesday and temperatures should be in the double-digits all weekend.
Sunday is expected to be the warmer of the two days, reaching a high of 14 C.
But Monday looks like it will be even better, with temperatures expected to climb to 18 C.
This weekend marks the first time Hamilton is catching a glimpse of the doubledigit temperatures expected for April, said Coulson, who noted the average high for this time of year is 13 C.
With cloud and showers expected later next week, temperatures could dip down as low as 9 C. But it doesn’t look like that winter weather will be back any time soon.
“At this point in time, it looks like more of the traditional April showers is what we’re going to have to deal with,” said Coulson, noting a system is moving in Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week. Looking ahead to May, Hamilton should see seasonal temperatures in the 15 to 18 C range by the first of the month.
