Sarah Harmer returning home for Lowville Festival

Juno-winning singer-songwriter Sarah Harmer will return home to north Burlington to headline the fourth annual Lowville Festival, along with celebrated Canadian tenor Ben Heppner.

The festival takes place June 8 to 10 at two locations on Guelph Line Road — Lowville United Church (just south of Britannia Road) and St. George’s Anglican Church (just north of Derry Road).

Harmer, who grew up on nearby Mount Nemo but now lives in the Kingston area, will perform Friday, June 8, 7:30 p.m., at St. George’s church hall.

Heppner, one of Canada’s leading dramatic tenors and host of CBC Radio’s Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, will perform Saturday, June 9, 7:30 p.m., at St. George’s hall, joined by the Lowville

Festival Choir.

Tickets for each of these concerts are currently $50, but increase to $60 on June 1.

The festival also includes a the première of a new theatrical workshop/presentati­on by Burlington director June Cupido.

“Truth and Illusion: Two forces present in every moment” is a theatrical monologue that will be presented Sunday, June 10, 7 p.m., at Lowville United Church.
