The Fate of the Forest

- BY SABRINA SOUSA, GRADE 10

The forest which was dark and calm, Was filled with many trees.

The home for nature and all beasts, Was cared for by the bees.

A woman lived within a glade. She was a mighty mage.

And when the lumberjacks arrived, They brought a roaring rage.

Their axes glinted in the night.

Their trucks defiled the air. Wherever chainsaws revved and growled, The land was stripped all bare.

The woman watched the trees get chopped. And down they crashed and fell. What trees remained were brought to life, As per her magic spell.

Their branches formed their arms and legs. Each axe and truck was crushed.

The lumberjacks were filled with fear, And out the woods they rushed. The lumberjacks went back to town. The news had spread like fire.

The army then approached the woods, And war was their desire.

The soldiers came with guns and tanks. The trees then fought in vain.

The army overpowered them.

Both sides were left with pain.

The forest lost the battle; it Was clearer than the sea. The army left the empty land. They murdered every tree.

Without the trees and forest, all The air was running low.

The woman used her magic then, To make a forest grow.

As seen with trees and humans all Throughout this tale and more, They need each other to survive. So let’s make peace not war.
