Toronto-based songwriter Jennifer Castle sings minimalist country torch songs about mysticism and mortality. Castle has released a new album “Angels of Death,” her first since 2014’s acclaimed “Pink City.” She performs Thursday, May 31, 8 p.m., at The Casbah (Queen at King West), with GlassEYElashes and Coszmos Quartette. $10.
MORGAN DAVIS
Morgan Davis learned the blues growing up in Detroit before hitting the Toronto music scene in 1968. He’s since won a Juno and immersed himself in the Delta blues, especially the music of Robert Johnson. Davis performs Friday June 1, at 8 p.m., in the intimate setting of the Artword Artbar, 15 Colbourne St. on James North. $15.
DWAYNE GRETZKY
Dwayne Gretzky is a Toronto-Hamilton collective of veteran musicians that may be the best cover in the country. With a horn section and stable of top-notch singers, this band can do it all. Their current tour “Big Shiny Dwayne” focuses on the music of the ’90s and comes to Club Absinthe, 38 King William St., Friday and Saturday. Friday has sold out, but there may still be tickets for Saturday. Doors open at 9 p.m. $25.

Hamilton Arts Week kicks off Saturday, June 2, with a party at the Cotton Factory, 270 Sherman Ave. N., from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., featuring film and art market, dancers, aerial performances, a screening of the documentary “Metric: Dreams So Real,” and, beginning at 11 p.m. live music with Tiny Bill Cody, Kojo “Easy” Damptey and UK Cinema. KING BISCUIT BOY
Iconic rock band Crowbar returns to Hamilton Saturday, June 2, 8 p.m., to headline the 16th annual Blues with a Feeling tribute to local blues legend Richard (King Biscuit Boy) Newell at the Leander Boat Club, 50 Leander Dr., with Trickbag, Sonny Del Rio and Buffalo-based blues guitarist/singer Mick Hayes. $25. The annual benefit has raised more than $30,000 in bursaries for music students at Mohawk College.
