Iron Chef Canada set for fall 2019

TORONTO — Canada is getting its own version of the popular cooking competitio­n series “Iron Chef.”

Corus Entertainm­ent says “Iron Chef Canada” will première in fall 2019 on Food Network Canada with contestant­s from across the country.

Like the original series, the show will see the chefs preparing five dishes in one hour using a featured “secret ingredient.”

“Iron Chef Canada” is part of Corus’s newly announced 20182019 lineup.

New American shows headed to Global include the Dick Wolfproduc­ed “FBI,” starring Missy Peregrym, and the medical drama “New Amsterdam.”

Comedies on the docket include “The Neighborho­od” with Cedric the Entertaine­r, “Happy Together” with Damon Wayans Jr., and the Amy Poehler-produced “I Feel Bad.”

Returning series include “Mary Kills People,” “Big Brother Canada,” “Private Eyes” and “Top Chef Canada.”

Corus is among several media companies unveiling their TV lineups in an annual spring tradition known as the upfronts.

Also on Monday, Rogers Media announced that Citytv NOW and FX NOW streaming services will launch this September.

Last week Bell Media unveiled its American show acquisitio­ns, including the soapy drama “Grand Hotel,” and the cop dramas “The Rookie” and “Magnum P.I.” for CTV.

Meanwhile, CraveTV will have a new, original, female-driven mockumenta­ry series, “New Eden.”

CBC’s recent 2018-2019 lineup unveiling included a reboot of “Street Legal.”
