Message from the Board Chair and President & CEO
We are pleased to report on another successful year for Hamilton Community Foundation, with donations of $6.5 million and record-high grants and community leadership spending of $8.2 million supporting our mission to drive positive change.
The Foundation works with donors to address the city’s needs and make a difference in areas they care deeply about. Last year, their impact was felt through 755 grants to almost 300 local organizations across all sectors, progress toward goals such as increasing post-secondary access and improving the health and prosperity of Hamilton’s neighbourhoods, and $6.4 million in loans outstanding to local charities for projects like affordable housing.
Truly reflecting Hamilton means understanding both its long-standing and emerging challenges. As the latest census data and our new Vital Signs report show, our city is changing — and at an ever-increasing pace. Change presents opportunity but also underlines the critical importance of ensuring that the decisions Hamiltonians make, as individuals and as a collective, work toward a city where every person can share equitably in prosperity, aspirations and sense of belonging.
