Hamilton’s ‘bipolar incompetence’

-

RE: ONTARIO ELECTION

Woe unto Hamilton! Despite having no substantial platform, and promises that kept flipping depending on what he thought would get him more votes, a buffoon has been elected as premier.

We also now have Donna Skelly as Hamilton’s representative at Queen’s Park, actively working to thwart a decade of LRT progress, despite her rookie status.

The misunderstanding of details regarding LRT funding should never have been allowed to snowball like they have. Some now feel that we would be stiffed if we lost the billion dollars, but this money was never ours to begin with. The province promised to fund our request to build LRT.

I’ve recently decided I would prefer Hamilton end up with nothing. Scrap LRT but don’t whine because you changed your mind. The province has done absolutely nothing wrong here, so Hamilton is owed zilch for its own bipolar incompetence.

Provincial funding comes from appropriate sources after municipalities submit successful proposals for what they need. This city has wasted $100 million on a sinking project, yet seeks to be rewarded with a carte blanche cheque? Outrageous! And municipalities which were forced to actually pay for part of their own LRTs should be especially aggrieved.

Voting on LRT has finished. Any councillor attempting to further derail the project via stall tactics should be severely reprimanded. Shame on those who have tried. Rob Hardy, Stoney Creek
