We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father and Nonno, Mario Corrado Carmine Moretti, a few days shy of his 88th birthday. Beloved husband of Gina for 64 years. Loving father of Lucy and Harry (Maryanne). Cherished Nonno of Ava and Adriano. He is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Francesca and Florindo Caravaggio and his sisters-in-law, Mary Marfisi and Giovina Mattucci as well as by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends in Canada and Italy. He was predecease­d by his parents Enrico and Lucia Moretti, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Concetta and Vito Giannanton­io, Ginesia and Galliano Sisti, his brother, Italino and his sister-in-laws and brothers-in-law, Verina and Nicolo DiTotto, Marina and Nicolo Veri and Enzo Marfisi. He was born in Rocco San Giovanni, Italy, and immigrated to Canada in 1955. He began his working career at the Hagersvill­e Quarry, followed by the Canadian Gypsum Company, Almas Constructi­on and finally for the Town of Haldimand-Norfolk in the Water Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, winemaking, watching Formula 1 racing rooting for Ferrari, Serie A football (Juventus) and travelling home to Italy and many other destinatio­ns. Special thanks are extended to the many organizati­ons and individual­s who provided compassion­ate and caring support to Mario during his many years of disability: CCAC, VON, March of Dimes, St. Elizabeth Health Care and Haldimand-Norfolk Senior Support Services. Our deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Anson Place and the West Haldimand Hospital who comforted and cared for Mario in his last days. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Drijber for his attentive care, support and guidance. The family will honour his life with visitation at Hyde & Mott Chapel of RHB Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main St. S., Hagersvill­e, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 94 Main St. S., Hagersvill­e on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Hagersvill­e Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to HaldimandN­orfolk Senior Support Services, Anson Place and West Haldimand General Hospital would be sincerely appreciate­d by the family.
