Media defending Islamists
RE: QUESTIONS ON GUNS AND MENTAL HEALTH (JULY 25)
How hypocritical of you to admonish conservative news sources for jumping to conclusions about Danforth shooter Faisal Hussain when Torstar, the CBC and other liberal news sources were rushing to conclude that this tragedy was the result of too many guns and not enough mental institutions!
And you have the nerve to yet again imply that conservative points of view are the views of the alt-right, namely white supremacists and neo-Nazis.
I assure you, it would be easier to show that the liberal media spews and defends the views of Marxists, Communists and Islamists.
Your fixation on mental illness is puzzling, since hundreds of thousands are so troubled yet do not murder.
And why did you accept the family’s statement about mental issues when its author was Mohammed Hashim, an activist with the National Council of Canadian Muslims and the NDP who reportedly works toward improving the image of the Muslim community?
In an article entitled “Who was the Danforth shooter?”, you report that Faisal Hussain’s brother Fahad was associated with Maisum Ansari, a man charged with cocaine trafficking and possessing 33 illegal guns.
Why do you believe that outlawing guns would make them less available to criminals when outlawing cocaine failed to stop this pair from obtaining drugs?
By jumping prematurely to your own myopic conclusions, you have done a great disservice to your readers. Steven Scheffer, Burlington
