It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Stermann. Beloved husband of 62 years to Elizabeth (Liz) Wessels Stermann. Dear father to Gordon (Beverlee), Carmen (Cameron), Roger (Laurie), and Doreen. Cherished Opa to Jenn (Dino), Hector, Angela, and Oscar (Chelsea and daughter, Sydney). He will be missed by his surviving brother, Konrad Stermann (Gertrude) of Germany, sister-in-law Annette Stermann of Germany and his brother-in-law, Ceci Lamoca along with all his nieces and nephews abroad and at home. Born in Halverde, Germany, Bob immigrated to Canada in 1953, found work as a lumberjack and truck driver for various companies including 18 years with Stelco. Together he and Liz built Stermann’s Interiors and Draperies in Hamilton. He was a member of St Boniface German Church and choir; and a member of the Canadian Male Orpheus Choir. The family is thankful that Bob donated his body to the McMaster University Anatomy Teaching Lab to contribute to scientific research. A celebratio­n of Bob Stermann’s life will be held at Southcote 53 Tap and Grill, 534 Garner Rd. East, Ancaster, August 26, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Salvation Army. Special gratitude to Darlene for giving Bob dignified and gentle care for so many years. And thanks to the staff at Regina Gardens /Mount Hope for their gentle care.
