Hamilton man charged in Peel murder case
MISSISSAUGA — Streetsville’s David Fiedler is still missing, but Peel police this week charged two men with firstdegree murder, saying they believe the 54-year-old is dead.
Fiedler has been missing since Dec. 2 and his disappearance has been shrouded in mystery.
The Peel Regional Police homicide bureau took over the investigation just before Christmas, saying investigators were concerned about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
On Tuesday (Aug. 14), police arrest- ed Marko Tubic, 41, of Hamilton and Jeff Caissey, 45, of Bracebridge. They have been charged with first-degree murder. Both men at one time lived in Mississauga and attended Port Credit Secondary School, according to Facebook, which lists them as friends.
It’s the second time this year Peel police have laid a murder charge in the case of a missing Mississauga resident when no body has ever been found.
In December investigators spent days searching a Parkerhill Road neighbourhood, including setting up tents in a residential backyard, in relation to Fiedler’s disappearance.
Originally, police said Fiedler was last seen around 1 p.m. in the area of his Streetsville home, near Reid Drive and Queen Street South. He was driving a tan 1982 Dodge van.
The van was found four days later and 12 kilometres away, unoccupied, with a parking ticket on the windshield. It had been left in a parking lot in the area of Confederation Parkway and The Queensway.
While the van did not yield any clues as to his whereabouts, or indicate foul play, new information led police to two homes on Parkerhill on Dec. 12, which is about three kilometres north of where his van was found. Police this week revealed he had been seen in the area of Parkerhill and Dundas Street West on Dec. 2.
