With sadness we announce the passing of Douglas Wayne Johnston, on August 31, 2018, surrounded by his family at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Loving husband of Judith Johnston. Treasured father of Emily (Mike), Heather (Kors), David, Hilary, Vanessa and Victoria. Cherished Stepfather of Thomas and Rebecca. Much loved Poppa/Grandpa to Holden, Maya, Aidan, Kayla, Tyler, Zachary, Cohen and Lochlan. Predecease­d by his father Robert, he is survived by his mother Doreen and sister Lynn. His endless love and guidance will be deeply missed by his children and grandchild­ren. He was a dedicated professor at Mohawk College for over 40 years and a devoted volunteer at Mission Services. Doug touched the lives of all who knew him. Many thanks are expressed to the caregivers at Juravinski, the VON and Hamilton EMS Services. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to his Oncologist, Dr. O. Levine for his supportive and compassion­ate care. Sincere gratitude is extended to the palliative care team at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their warmth and compassion during his stay. Visitation will take place at M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home, 567 Upper Wellington Street, Hamilton on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Church of the Resurrecti­on, 435 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciate­d by the family.
