SPENCER, Lois Mae (nee Somerville)

-

Peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 1st in her 92nd year. Beloved wife to her late husband John (d.1998); dear mother to Jan (Chuck/John), Kelly (Glenn), and Tracy (Jim); cherished grandmother to John, Scott (Cleophee), Spencer, Bryan, Jesse (Alex), Brent (Laura), and Lindsey; a delighted greatgrandmother to Hildur, Jacques, and Lexie; and aunt to several Somerville and Spencer nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Edith and her older siblings Jeanne, Hazel, Norma, Bill, Ross, and more recently by her younger brother Richard whom she deeply missed. A resident of Hamilton, Hamilton Beach, and Burlington, Lois was an active participant in life. Based out of the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, she and Jack loved to sail and entertain aboard the Wyndrift and Pirate King. Lois golfed and curled at the Glendale Golf and Country Club, lawn bowled, painted, carved, crafted small pieces of furniture, proudly belonged to the Lois’ Club, enjoyed bridge, and socializing with the Mohawk College Retirees Association and her numerous friends including lifelong friend Gwen Stephenson. While osteoporosis slowed her down in later years, she kept her wit and smile for all to experience. Special thanks to the staff at The Williamsburg Retirement Home, Doctors Comeau and Zhu, and the 7th floor nursing staff at Joseph Brant Hospital. At Lois’ request there will be no service. If desired, donations may be made to Osteoporosis Canada.

“May there always be

wind in your sails.”
