McMaster student victim of ‘life-altering’ stabbing

Hamilton police say 18-year-old in hospital with serious injuries

-

An 18-year-old McMaster student suffered what Hamilton police call “life-altering” injuries after being stabbed in the neck while walking home from a party.

Friends of the young man flagged down police near Emerson Street and Ward Avenue in west Hamilton shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, where the victim was on the ground after being stabbed in the back of the neck with an unknown object.

Police said the victim — who is from Kingston — and his friends were on their way home after a party when there was an “altercation” with a group of other men. Police said the student was “jumped” by one of them and stabbed.

The group of between five and eight men ran south on Emerson Street toward the university.

The victim’s friends called 911 and tended to his injury.

The student was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a serious injury.

Police are looking for video surveillance and/or witnesses to the incident.

The group of suspects are all described as being skinny, with a medium complexion, and long curly hair. They were each wearing a T-shirt and shorts.
