Led by Irwin Koziol with four hits and four RBIs, the fourth-place Tigers crowned their late-season efforts by holding on to beat the Cardinals 16-15 in the Hamilton Oldtimers’ Baseball Organization’s 55-and-up division championship game. John Fuciarelli had two hits and scored four runs, while Al Purins had two hits and three RBI. Rod Currie (including a double), Brian Fraser, Rod Noseworthy, Frank Simioni and Darrell Smith each had two hits for the champions, while Mike Fazari scored three runs. Noseworthy had two RBIs and scored twice, while Simioni scored a pair. Chris Fraser, with three hits and four runs scored, Doug Jackson had two hits, two runs and five RBI and Ian Robertson two hits, three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Cards, who fought back from an eight-run deficit to get within one run and left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. Richard Kirkham, Stephen McClure, John McGrath and Bert Schenk each had two hits for the Cards, while McGrath, McClure and Kirham each had two RBI. McGrath also scored a pair of runs.
