Give credit to NDP’s Horwath

RE: FORD GOVERNMENT

It’s time to look at Ontario leaders other than Mr. Ford. His actions not only reflect abusive power but an agenda fuelled by political revenge. Let’s look at the current, real Ontario leader, Andrea Horwath who, not only represents the NDP, but also the many Conservatives not supporting the current action and those Liberals who have little representation. To be ejected from the Legislature she has fought for over many years is an act of strength and commitment beyond party lines. Her action represents democracy.

The other player missing in action is Caroline Mulroney, the Attorney General. She not only failed the voter, but also missed the opportunity to stand with such political leaders as William Davis, and former prime minister Mulroney. Add to the list, Christine Elliott, Vic Fedeli, Rod Phillips and Steven Clark silent in lack of action.

Let’s talk reasons: Perhaps they believe what Mr. Ford is doing is right. Was Ms. Mulroney too busy to support her leader when he announced his undemocratic intent? Or is it a panic driven power based on ‘do what we can while in power’? Fifteen years is a long dry desert. Even now it’s a false oasis: 40 per cent supported Ford. 60 per cent supported the other parties. Where’s the majority?

But back to Andrea Horwath. NDP or not NDP is not the question as of yesterday. Ms. Horwath deserves our appreciation and respect for “taking a political knee” on our behalf.
