Steve Poltz is a Canadian-born, California-raised singer-songwriter best known for his work in the rock band The Rugburns and his collaborations with singer Jewel. Shawn Brush, a.k.a. “The Crooked Cowboy,” maybe the best bluegrass-picking guitarist the Hamilton-Burlington area ever produced. He’s also a great singer and songwriter. But he’s in need of a new mobility van so he can make it around town. Shawn’s friends are holding a benefit for him Sunday, Oct. 14, 2:30 to 8 p.m., at the Boston Manor, 4460 Fairview St., Burlington. I’m a sucker for Jann Arden’s live shtick. Her songs will make you cry and her family-friendly stories will make you laugh out loud. Author of four books and countless hits, Jann is a true Canadian treasure. Ricky Skaggs is one of the greatest names in bluegrass music, having won 15 Grammy awards and released more than 30 albums. He’s bringing his roots revival jamboree “An Evening with Ricky Scaggs and Kentucky Thunder” to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. Tickets $89.50, including tax and fee.
