Hamilton and Halton police are asking for help identifying a suspect wanted for two bank robberies earlier this year.

Police allege the same man is wanted for both robberies in Burlington and Hamilton.

No one was injured in either incident.

Police say the first robbery occurred May 10 shortly before 3 p.m. at the Scotiabank at 997 Fennell Ave. E., when a lone man approached a clerk and produced a note saying it was a robbery and demanding money.

The suspect obtained a large amount of cash before fleeing, police said.

He is described as a tall white man, in his mid-50s, unshaven and wearing a light-coloured baseball cap, dark sweater, dark trousers, and black and white shoes.

On July 24, shortly before 1 p.m. Halton police were called to the TD Bank at 1505 Guelph Line in Burlington for a robbery.

In that case a lone man approached the clerk, produced a note that said it was a robbery and that he would hurt the clerk, police said. He was handed a small amount of money before fleeing.

In this case the suspect was described as a white man, 40 to 50, with a slim build, wearing black pants and jacket and a black Blue Jays hat.
