It’s the last weekend of October and there are plenty of fun times to be had both indoors and out.

Toys in mums

Hamilton’s great big mum show is in its 98th year. It runs Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at the Gage Park Greenhouse. Once Upon a Toy is the theme for this amazing floral display created by some of Hamilton’s finest horticultu­re staff. The display is a breathtaki­ng feature of more than 200 varieties of chrysanthe­mums and 75,000-plus blooms. Tickets are $7; seniors and children are $6; five years and under free.

Hometown Hockey

Rogers Hometown Hockey stops in downtown Burlington on Saturday and Sunday at Civic Square, 426 Brant St. The weekend of free outdoor hockey festivitie­s for all ages culminates in an outdoor viewing party of an NHL game broadcast Sunday, with Ron MacLean and Tara Slone hosting live on-site from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio. Events run Saturday noon to 5:15 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. to the end of the Ottawa-Vegas game. Note: Burlington road closures are Oct. 25, 6 a.m., to Oct. 29, 5 p.m., for Rogers Hometown Hockey. Brant Street between Ontario and Pine streets and James Street between Brant and John streets, are closed to traffic. Signs and barricades are up.

Binbrook Little Theatre

Set over the course of four days leading up to a massive German attack on the British trenches in 1917, “Journey’s End” by R.C. Sherriff charts the tension and claustroph­obia of a new recruit. Show times this weekend are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. until Nov.

• Nightmare on Elmore, billed as Hamilton’s scariest haunted house, is a thrill to behold. Tread lightly to Gage Park where this annual horror fest runs Oct. 26 to 31, 3 p.m. to midnight. The fright is kid friendly from 3 to 8 p.m., and then becomes bone-chilling from 7 to 11 p.m. Cost is $7 until 8 p.m. and $8 after

• Bizarro’s Factory of Fear is an outdoor haunted attraction open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Halloween with additional shows Oct. 29, 30 and 31. Shows take about five to 10 minutes and run 7 to 11 p.m. Admission is $10 plus fees for the factory at Mizener’s Antiques and Flea Market, 367 Hwy. 5, Dundas. Mountsberg Conservati­on Area’s Halloween Spooktacul­ar runs weekends throughout October. Crafts, pumpkin passport to discovery, wagon ride and face painting. Wear a costume when you visit.

• Halloween Ho-down Weekends at Puddicombe Estate Farms run Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’s live entertainm­ent, a children’s village, juice tastings, train rides, campfire and marshmallo­w roast and crafts.

• Kids’ Halloween Party at Erland Lee Museum, 552 Ridge Rd. in Stoney Creek, is Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Four-to-nine-year-olds are invited to a costume party at the museum. Admission is $5 per child. Call 905-6622691. • Candleligh­t Spirit Walk, an after-hours tour of the Erland Lee Museum and grounds is Friday and Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 and must be reserved in advance. 906662-2691. • Hamilton Naked Pumpkin Run is Saturday at 7 p.m. Wear only shoes and a mask or carved pumpkin (clothing is optional) for this 2.5 kilometre fun run. • Pumpkin Fest hosted by Mountain Kidz

Klub is Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Eastmount Community Centre, 115 East 26th St. Costume parade, penny sale, yard sale, and Halloween treats. • Hamilton Public Library has many Halloween theme activities and events from Halloween story times, to Halloween fun with PlayDoh and much more. It’s happening at all branches this weekend. hpl.ca • Haunted Halloween: Night Circus at Westfield Heritage Village is Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wear a costume and enjoy a village lit by lanterns, candles and pumpkins. This year, the village green is the site of a miniature Night Circus featuring acrobats, carnival games and magic tricks. The Halloween celebratio­n includes a Pumpkin Walk, sparkling Illuminate­d Forest and unique Fairy Village. Admission is $12 for adults and $6.50 for youth, parking is free. westfieldh­eritage.ca • The Halton County Radial Railway’s Halloween Spooktacul­ar on Saturday involves a haunted car barn, creaky streetcars and apple cider. Come dressed in costume. The event is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with the last car departing at 9:20 p.m. Admission is $15. The Halton County Radial Railway is at 13629 Guelph Line, Milton.

• Mountsberg Conservati­on Area’s Halloween Spooktacul­ar runs weekends throughout October. Crafts, pumpkin passport to discovery, wagon ride and face-painting. Free with park admission. Wear a costume when you visit. 2259 Milburough Line, Campbellvi­lle.

• Fallfest on Concession Street features live music, vendor marketplac­e, trick or treating for the kids and a pumpkin-carving contest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free parking from Upper Wentworth to Upper Sherman.

• Trick or treat: On Saturday, families can trick or treat along Ottawa Street, Main to Barton, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Waterdown Village BIA Pet and Treat Walk for costumed kids and pets is Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.

• Hermitage Ruins is a popular location for a day time or evening hike. It’s off the main loop trail at Dundas Valley Conservati­on Area, 650 Governors Rd., Dundas.

• Pumpkinfes­t at Gourley Park Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides, photo booth, petting zoo, climbing wall, bounce castle, magician, Halloween games, candy toss and much more. Admission is free. Gourley Park is located at 142 Duncairn Cres., off Brigadoon Drive.
