PORCO, Lucia (nee Muraca)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lucia, after a courageous battle, Lucia passed peacefully and entered the gates of Heaven on October 29, 2018 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Salvatore Porco (2016). Loving mother to John, Mary and Tony (Marsha). Cherished Nonna of Samantha, Alexandra, Noah and Sophia. Daughter of the late Domenico and Giuseppina Muraca. Dear sister of the late Vince (Rosina) Muraca, the late Mario (Laura) Muraca, the late Luigi (Angelina) Muraca, Giovanni (Nella) Muraca, the late Marietta (the late Michael) Perrelli and sister-in-law to the late Joe, Tony (Guiseppina), Ottavio (Mary), Mario (Bruna), Alfredo, the late Maria, and Lina (Angelo) Sferrazza. Lucia leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was employed for 20 years at Cambridge Clothes and made many friends she always cherished. Special thank you to the nurses and doctors at 3 West at St. Peter’s. She will be remembered for her love of cooking for family and friends and her care and dedication to her grandchildren. Lucia enjoyed her daily soaps, especially “Y and R”, and her daily chats with friends and family. She had a warm sense of humour and put a smile on everyone’s face. Visitation at Bay Gardens

Funeral Home - “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Thursday, November 1st from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The Vigil Prayers for Lucia will be held at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Regina Mundi Roman Catholic Church, 631 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton on Friday, November 2nd at 10 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
