Venerable Hamilton rock club This Ain’t Hollywood has been put up for sale, listing for $2,149,000.

The listing, posted by Hamilton realtor Evan Apostol of Blair Blanchard Stapleton Ltd., went up on the realtor.ca website Monday night, said club co-owner Lou Molinaro.

Molinaro, who opened the club with two partners in 2009, said the owners were contacted by a real estate agent who told them there was interest in the twostorey building at the corner of James North and Murray streets.

“The only way we would know how serious the interest is was to list it,” Molinaro said Wednesday. “We’re interested in knowing what the climate is out there. We’ve been working hard on both the building and the business for 10 years.”

The current owners of the 125-year-old property at 345 James St. N. are Molinaro, Glen Faulman and Doug Malcolm. The club was named after the title of a 1982 album by Hamilton punk band the Forgotten Rebels.

Molinaro said he was still booking live music shows at the club and had recently booked one for June 2019.

“My biggest hope is that it remains a venue for live music,” Molinaro said.

The listing describes the building as “a phenomenal location in the heart of the James North district, directly across from historic LIUNA Station and West Harbour GO Station.”

The building has a long history as a tavern in the city, dating back to 1893 when it opened as the McKenzie House. In the 1960s, it was the Turbinia House and later Copper John’s.

Since opening at This Ain’t Hollywood, the club has hosted many iconic acts such as Johnny Winter, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, the Arkells, Teenage Head, the Forgotten Rebels and Monster Truck.
