Bear spray believed to be used in two attacks

-

Hamilton police are trying to identify and apprehend three people they say randomly sprayed two men, in two separate incidents, in Westdale Sunday with what is being called a “noxious substance,” probably bear spray.

The first incident occurred shortly before 8:50 p.m., near Main Street West and Dalewood Avenue. Two male suspects exited a motor vehicle, silver in colour, according to the police, and sprayed a lone male in the face as the victim walked eastbound on Main West.

The second incident occurred about 40 minutes later near Main West and Cline Avenue South when a lone male, walking southbound on Cline, heard a noise from an approaching vehicle and, as he turned to look, was sprayed from the vehicle.

No words were exchanged and nothing was stolen during either incident. Police believe the noxious substance was bear spray.

Police believe three suspects are involved and they are described as: male, white, six-foot-two, about 25 years old, thin build wearing black jacket with hood up; male, white, sixfoot-one, about 25-years-old, skinny build wearing a white jacket; and male, white, about 25 years old, thin build, with short brown or black hair.

Police believe the suspect vehicle to be a silver/grey four-door Hyundai sedan.
