WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

-

The Bulldogs have graduated at least a dozen players to various levels of professional hockey since relocating to Hamilton at the start of the 2015-16 season — Luff included. Here’s a look at what they’re up to now:

Will Bitten: Originally a third-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens, Bitten was traded to the Minnesota Wild by the Habs early this season. The Ottawa-born winger is now playing for Minnesota’s AHL affiliate Iowa Wild and has one assist in 11 games.

Nick Caamano: Ancaster’s Caamano has two goals and four points in 18 games with the Texas Stars, whose NHL parent in Dallas drafted the power forward while he was still suiting up for the Flint Firebirds in 2016. He shares an apartment with former Bulldogs teammate and fellow Stars prospect Ben Gleason.

Kaden Fulcher: After signing with the Detroit Red Wings as a free agent, Fulcher is 5-1 in his first six starts for the Toledo Walleye — Detroit’s ECHL club — with a 2.61 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. The 20-year-old netminder is teammates with former AHL Bulldogs captain T.J. Hensick.

Ben Gleason: The Michigan-born blueliner signed with Dallas after scoring an invitation to suit up for the Stars at this year’s NHL prospects tournament in Traverse City. He started season with Texas but was recently called up to the big club, where he impressed head coach Jim Montgomery with his playmaking ability and puck-handling skill.

Justin Lemcke: The former Bulldogs captain was traded to the Buffalo Sabres’ ECHL affiliate by the Wichita Thunder in early October. He has played three games for the Cincinnati Cyclones since. Mason Marchment: Since graduating from the OHL at the end of the 2015-16 season, the 23-year-old winger has worked his way up from the ECHL to an entry-level deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marchment is currently scoring at a point-per-game pace with the AHL Toronto Marlies, with whom he won the Calder Cup last spring.

Ryan Moore: Moore, another Michigan native, inked a two-year contract with the Marlies in July and wound up with Toronto’s ECHL club in Newfoundland. The five-foot-eight, 170-pound forward has 11 points in 19 games along with 22 penalty minutes — the second most on the team. Niki Petti: The Welland-born forward launched his pro career with Montreal’s AHL affiliate in Laval last season. He now plays for Mora IK in the Swedish Hockey League alongside Hamilton native Spencer Abbott.

Riley Stillman: The Florida Panthers signed defenceman Stillman — a 2016 fourth-rounder — to an entry-level deal in March. He started the campaign in the AHL where he has five assists and is tied for a team-best plus-six rating in his first 17 outings with the Springfield Thunderbirds. Marian Studenic: A Slovakian import, Studenic is off to a great start with the New Jersey Devils’ AHL affiliate in team in Binghamton. Through 20 games, he has eight goals and 13 points, which ties him for the club lead in scoring.

Robert Thomas: It looked like Thomas could return to Hamilton and the OHL this season, but the 2017 first-rounder managed to stick with the St. Louis Blues. He has a goal and six assists in 18 games and his ice time is increasing — particularly after the team parted ways with former head coach Mike Yeo.
