Nrinder Nann
NRINDER NANN has worked for a high-profile union in New York and as a community development manager in Toronto. But the 41-year-old mom and small business owner fell in love with her “forever home” in Hamilton eight years ago and has been deeply involved in the community ever since.
The community organizer ran the successful council campaign of her predecessor, Matthew Green, and pushed for parental leave for councillors.
Now she wants to bring “progressive leadership” to a council tasked with handling historic projects like light rail transit that promise both opportunity and challenges.
The new Ward 3 representative will be council’s first woman of colour and said she looks forward to helping the city use a “gender equity lens” in tackling issues like housing and community safety.
“The reality of our city is that our residents are seeing many different changes — and in some cases a lot of hard times,” she said. “I want to be a voice for them.”
