Kyp Harness is a Toronto songwriter and novelist whose work has been covered by Ron Sexsmith and Mary Margaret O’Hara. Harness will be joined by multi-instrument­alist Dale Morningsta­r and poet Chris Bailey for a night of music and readings at the Artword Artbar, 15 Colbourne St., on Thursday, Feb. 7, 8 p.m. $10. Raine Hamilton won emerging artist of the year two months ago at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. She plays traditiona­l folk, backed by cello, violin and double bass. This could easily rank as one of the top shows of the year — Hamilton’s Juno-nominated vocal powerhouse shares a bill with Toronto outlaw country queen Lindi Ortega and Winnipeg R&B rising star Begonia.
