Imagining the future for all Hamiltonians

-

“The community we hope to create is one that is healthy and resilient. It’s a place where everyone has access to healthy food, safe housing and opportunities for tomorrow.”

At Mission Services, this is the future we imagine for all Hamiltonians. A lot has changed in the months since the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in our city. What hasn’t changed is our dedication to supporting those in our community who are most affected by growing socioeconomic inequality.

We have created new ways to connect digitally with the folks in our addictions treatment and afterschool youth program. We have reimagined our shelters and support services, streamlined distribution at our Good Food Centre, and invested in PPE to protect our staff and clients.

This spring, we launched Housing UP!, our rapid rehousing project for men in Hamilton. Since the program’s start, our case managers have found appropriate and affordable housing for 11 men, and another 12 found housing with support from our Men’s Shelter.

This work is only possible with the generosity of our donors. During the pandemic, we have been touched to receive incredibly generous donations from long-time and first-time donors, community groups, local businesses, and foundations.

Until our social systems can adequately and sustainably ensure accessible food, housing, and supports for everyone in our community, our services are essential—and our donors are essential. Because of our donors and community partners, we have been able to support thousands of Hamiltonians during the pandemic. Thank you.
